Introduction to the fog warning and monitoring system
Article source:Weather station time:2024-06-19 08:47:16 viewed:485times
Cluster fog is a localised, small area of dense fog which appears suddenly and is difficult to predict. Although the area of this kind of fog is small, the visibility inside is very low, sometimes only a dozen metres. If the fog appears on the motorway, it will make the driver's vision suddenly deteriorate, which can easily lead to traffic accidents, so it has an individual name as "mobile killer".
The fog warning and monitoring system is designed to cope with fog-prone areas, and it strengthens the monitoring capability by encrypting the arrangement of visibility monitoring equipment. At the front of the foggy area, the system is equipped with variable message signs and speed limit signs to warn drivers of fog in advance. The system automatically adjusts guidance measures based on real-time visibility monitoring, such as activating the fog zone navigation system, to help avoid accidents caused by fog and enhance road safety.
When low visibility meteorological phenomena, such as fog, occur, the meteorological visibility monitoring module at the front end of the monitoring system will be activated immediately to collect and analyse the relevant data. Once an abnormality is detected, the system will quickly issue an alarm and transmit the alarm information to the command centre.
The duty officer can receive these alarm messages through the central platform or mobile phone. After verifying that the on-site situation matches the alarm message, they will immediately enforce speed limits to ensure road traffic safety. As meteorological conditions improve, the system will automatically monitor and make judgements, and once conditions return to normal, it will automatically adjust back to the original speed limit settings on the road to ensure smooth and safe traffic.
The fog monitoring and warning system on highways can identify where there is low visibility or fog in real time and issue warnings automatically. This system helps to reduce traffic accidents caused by fog, minimise road closures and facilitate smoother traffic flow, which is helpful in ensuring driving safety and improving the efficiency of road usage.
