Second, this system acts as a smart brain for improving road network operational efficiency. Maintenance departments can scientifically schedule de-icing agent application based on road surface temperature data; traffic managers can prepare traffic flow management plans in advance based on visibility and precipitation forecasts. This refined management greatly ensures road capacity and reduces closures and congestion caused by weather.
Beyond routine maintenance, these long-term, continuous meteorological records closely integrated with traffic flow data are also valuable research assets.
