What are the advantages of the 12 metre manual pre-dischargeable lightning rod?
Article source:Weather station time:2024-05-28 08:46:28 viewed:319times
Traditional lightning protection facilities are limited in their protective effect when installed at low heights. To solve this problem, pre-discharge lightning rods have been introduced. When the atmospheric electric field strength in the protected area is monitored to reach the preset trigger threshold, the pre-discharge lightning rod will automatically emit voltage pulses to form a lower resistance discharge path.
Its advantage is that the flash point is higher than the protected equipment, effectively widening the protection area. It solves the problem of not being able to predict which lightning rod will strike, a problem brought about by the uncertainty of traditional lightning rods due to their low installation position and large number.
Some customers have asked whether pre-discharged lightning rods attract lightning that would not otherwise hit the target.
In response to this query, Windway provides an answer.
The activation of a pre-discharged lightning rod is based on a change in the strength of the atmospheric electric field in the protected area. Only when this electric field strength reaches a specific discharge threshold, i.e. when there is a risk of a lightning strike, the lightning rod releases a voltage pulse that creates an ionisation path that connects to the downstream pilot of the thundercloud and completes the discharge process. This is similar to a lighter producing a spark, which cannot be formed if the distance is insufficient. Pre-discharge lightning rods therefore do not attract lightning from "non-target areas".
Article Summary: What are the advantages of the 12 metre manual pre-discharge lightning rod?
High corrosion and wind resistance.
Designed to be maintenance free and have no power requirements.
Easy to install and has a long service life.
Provides a wider range of protection than traditional lightning rods.
Optimised flashover effect, reducing the risk of direct lightning strikes.
Effectively reduces the intensity of lightning current, reducing secondary disasters caused by lightning.
Installation and operation guide:
Upright operation: the lift rod can be fixed on the ground or vehicle. It is critical to ensure that the lift rod maintains a vertical state with the ground during use. If the lifter bar is tilted, it will interfere with its normal lifting function; severe or continuous tilting may also cause damage to the lifter bar and lead to safety hazards.
